Catching up? Never happen!
I can never die. I have too much on my list. It just can't happen. Here is what I have been doing with Blah2Bling in the last many months...
And this:
Can't forget these:
So you can see if we throw in a family reunion, a garden, walks with the dog, church responsibilities, home based business and life in general, I WILL NEVER BE CAUGHT UP! (But at least now YOU are) ~ Dorie

Story of Blah 2 Bling
Well since I've been finding, refurbishing and selling items locally, I thought I should have a facebook page where I could keep a sort of catalog of my work. I thought of all kinds of names looking for something catchy like my daughter-in-law's
F A B Finds. I thought of 'Dodo's Attic', 'Painted Planks'(a close one), 'Sweet n Chic', 'Reborn Boo boo's' and 'Doriedoo's redoos' to name but a few of the more than 25 names I came up with.
Last night I finally decided to name it or forget it. So something clicked with me when I started thinking of 'Lost n Found'. Don't ask me how but it eventually led to from Blah to Bling. I liked it. It was catchy. So I made the decision and made a page for it on Facebook. I shortened the name to Blah2Bling and that's where you can now see what's up with my furniture revamping. Speaking of which, I want to show you the progress I've made on a couple of items. I'll let the picture below tell the story. 3 pieces cost me $16. Paint about $20. Time...not really that long. See if you can see the Bling in these Blahs:
I'll finish them tomorrow. And I'll show you the other ones as well...

Story of a Waterfall
Okay. In my old middle age, I'm really getting into hardware stores. My husband Mr. Bill is ecstatic! I recently went down and spent about 30 minutes (I know. That's only a second in 'man time') at a local discount hardware supply place. I came home and told him about it and we had quite the conversation about 100 grit sandpaper vs the sanding block and other things that will bore you like it USED to bore me. I think I have found a new way to look attractive to him. ;) But on to the waterfall...
I picked up this desk a couple weeks ago at the GoodWill. It was painted a pale greenish yellow and had silver knobs. But on closer inspection, I could see the rounded front of what I have learned is a 'waterfall' desk. Because it rolls over on the front edge like a waterfall. Inside I found red and white checked contact paper in drawers that had very nice dovetail joints. The price was $14.99. I could see it was solid and had some interesting rounded details. There was another lady browsing so I sorta pretended I wasn't interested in that piece of treasure junk and went to another area and LOW & BEHOLD there was a little brown crusty padded seat that had similar rounded detail. My fiendish brain could barely contain itself at the prospect of a potential 'set' right before my eyes! No price on it so I went to the fella in the receiving area and asked what they wanted for that junky ugly seat. He looked at it and said $6. I said no, too much but I'll take that desk there and give you $3 for the seat.
So he packed it all over to the receiving area to fill out a slip. While there, I noticed a really cute magazine caddy all carved and recently donated. I asked a price on it.
$9.99
Nope. Again too much but I said I'd give him $3. He said nope $5.99. I said nope and went to pay for the other pieces. But just before he finished filling out the slip he said, 'Okay. $3 for the magazine caddy.' Of course I said 'SOLD'! (No pictures of it ... yet!)
Anyway, brought home the desk and started thinking about the colors. I thought of pink. Matt suggested Turquoise and black and white. Hmmmm....
So off I went in search of the perfect combinations of turquoise, black and white.
Now, after making chalk paint with baking soda, painting, sanding, glazing, waxing and distressing, I'm ready to present my lovely little waterfall project. From here on out there are no more words except I love it!
She's going up for sale on Monday. Ahhh. It all came together just beautifully!
